Privacy policy
Last updated 28 June 2026. What Stacksmith does and does not collect, for both the macOS app and this website.
The short version
Stacksmith is built to keep your work on your machine. Your project files, source code, configuration, and logs are processed locally and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. Optional analytics are off by default.
What stays on your Mac
The app runs your development processes locally, the same way you would from a terminal. It does not transmit your .stacksmith.yml, your code, your command output, your logs, or resolved environment values off your device. Structured secrets are read locally from Keychain, dotenv files, or the parent process environment and injected only into launched child processes. The optional AI diagnosis uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models, so failure briefs are generated locally with no cloud round-trip.
Analytics (optional, off by default)
Stacksmith can collect anonymous, aggregated usage and stability data to help us improve the app. It is disabled by default; you are asked during onboarding and can change it at any time in Settings. When enabled, it never includes your project data, code, file contents, or command output.
Purchases and licensing
Payments and licence activation are handled by our reseller, Lemon Squeezy, acting as the merchant of record. When you buy or activate a licence, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment details and email under its own privacy policy. We receive order and licence information (such as your email and licence status) but not your full card details. Your licence key is stored locally in your macOS Keychain.
Updates
The app checks for updates through a public update feed. This is a standard network request that may include your current app version and macOS version so the right update can be served.
This website
The site fetches current pricing from Lemon Squeezy and sets no tracking or advertising cookies. It is served through Cloudflare, which may process standard request information (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver and protect the site.
Your choices
